One Drop Yo-Yo Display Stand

Ok, I have run into a problem recently. How do I display my yo-yos on my desk in a classy fashion? Now a little back-story, I am a teacher and I take a yo-yo to work with me. I tend to throw during my planning period when I am done with grading or lesson plans and when my classes first walk into my computer lab. I have told my students that if they are quiet I will throw a few tricks while we wait for the computers to log in. Through out the week I bring different yo-yos of various sizes that I don’t like leaving in my pocket while I teach. Leave it to One Drop to come up with a solution. While display stands are not a new thing, I find most of the current plastic crop to be a little cheap looking. What makes the One Drop stand, for lack of a better term; stand out is that it is a four-piece design laser cut out of solid maple. When I asked how they came up with the design, I was told that Shawn came up with it and cannot explain how. It has been chalked up as a gestalt moment. Funny thing, with the amount of ideas flowing out of that company I am not surprised.

When it comes down to the stand itself, it is a simple yet elegant design. There are two large pieces of maple that join together in a right angle and two small wedges that lock the angle into place. At the top of the face of the stand is a large grove for the yo-yo and underneath is a laser etched One Drop logo. Set it on the desk and let it show off your most treasured yo-yos. If you are out of desktop real estate you can always hang the stand face down from a nail on the wall. If you want to change up the looks of this stand, One Drop has left the wood bare, opening it up to whatever stains or dyes suite your mood. At the end of the day it is a nice little accessory to have. It also is a great way to store your less than case or pocket friendly yo-yos, such as the 54 with Stunt Pegs pictured in this review.

Final Verdict
This is a good looking, durable stand that does exactly what it needs to do. The versatility and customizability means that it is sure to look good on any desk or wall that you deem fit. While it may not be an absolute must have accessory like string or lube but it sure does give a touch of class while the yo-yo is sitting still. I wouldn’t mind getting several more to line up on my shelf at home.
