Here is all the significant yo-yos news from this past weekend that I managed to forget to post.
General-Yo
Ernie and Co. dropped their latest yo-yo on the community at the National YoYo Contest. The Entheos is an undersized, beastly looking player. I am eagerly looking forward to trying one once the hit the market.

Anti-Yo
The day has finally come. Anti-Yo has finally released the YWET at the National YoYo Contest. This yo-yo has been talked about for years and has been the butt of many jokes in the community, basically becoming the yo-yo equivalent of Duke Nukem Forever. Well early reports are saying that unlike DNF this yo-yo lives up to most of the hype, as one of my friends who picked one up in Chico said ” it won’t do your tricks or anything for you, so there is definitely an upper limit on how good it can actually be”. Ah sarcasm, I love this community. This is another one that I am eagerly wanting to get my hands on.
One Drop Yo-Yos
One Drop YoYos received the prestigious “Industry Excellence Award” this year at the National YoYo Contest. Words cannot describe how proud I am of Shawn and David, although to be honest I am not surprised in the least. Here is just a small list of things that they have done over the year:
- Side Effect Technology – revolutionary new axle system that allows you to change the looks, weight, and functionality of the yo-yo. At its heart it is the evolution of their original hex nut axle design so even if you never use it to change any of the three functions listed above it is still a brilliantly implemented replaceable axle that will keep your yo-yo viable if should happen to strip it.
- The CODE Projects - If you don’t know about these, One Drop has opened up their design process to the community. The CODE1 was designed completely through polls posted at YYN basically being designed by committee. The CODE2 is about to hit the voting phase. Instead of being done by committee, the CODE2 is going to give one player a shot at working with One Drop to make a yo-yo based on their design. It is up to the designer to take input from the community and decide if they want to implement changes.
- A successful collaboration with CLYW – Spawning from a logo contest held by CLYW, One Drop and CLYW came together to release the Wooly MarkMont. It just shows the level of trust people have in One Drop, so much so that Chris from CLYW turned over the designs of one of his best selling yo-yos to Shawn at One Drop, asking to tweak it and add some of the innovations that they have come up with over the years. The result is what some, myself included, consider to be the absolute best version of the Wooly Marmot design.
